    “Botanical” roses do not necessarily require regular maintenance pruning. Their flowering takes place on the twigs of the following year.

    The size of the roses will only be irregular, spaced 3 to 5 years apart. It will simply be necessary to thin out the clumps that have become dense, by completely removing the dead or excess branches. If properly maintained, a rosebush will regenerate much more easily and last for a long time.

    For upwelling shrub roses, their size should be considered as a summer flowering shrub. It is therefore necessary to take care of their size at the end of winter by leaving a framework adequate for their development. This will give you a good annual vegetation, a greater number of flowers and a better distribution of flowering.

    A little advice in addition, if you prune your roses regularly enough, by removing the wilted flowers, you will avoid the formation of fruits and seeds. This will allow your rising rose to flower again.

    Sterilization?

    You want to save money, eat healthy and homemade, so why not make your own jars of fruit or vegetables, meat, fish or sauces. Sterilization can be frightening, but we assure you that it is not rocket science and guarantees optimal hygiene and promises you many advantages.

     

    First steps!

    Let’s start by defining sterilization, it simply consists of removing all the air from the jars. The primary purpose of sterilization is to make your jars waterproof. To do this, the jars will be immersed in boiling water (over 100°C), which will remove all living organisms.

    Then, the hot water that has been initiated in the jars will then turn into water vapour, and thus allow the air to be removed from the containers.

    Finally, once the steam has cooled, a “vacuum” will occur, which will allow the jars to be hermetically sealed during closing.

     

    The benefits include

    Sterilization is a practical trick that allows you to keep your food much longer. Indeed, fruits and vegetables can be kept for example between 6 months and 1 year if they are stored in sterilized jars. Without sterilization, your cans will tend to expire more quickly.

    In addition, sterilization offers much more optimal hygiene conditions, as all organisms in the jars are eliminated, so you will not have any fear when consuming them, your food will not rot. Above all, you will have the satisfaction of telling yourself that this is homemade and made by you.

     

    Recipe idea

    It is time to put your knowledge into practice. We therefore offer you a small recipe for homemade pesto:

    Ingredient :

    • 25g pine nuts
    • 1 clove of garlic
    • 1 bunch of fresh basil
    • 20g grated parmesan cheese
    • 25cl olive oil
    • Salt, pepper

     

    Préparation :

    Dans une poêle bien chaude, déposez les pignons de pin et faites-les griller jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient bien dorés. Placez vos pignons bien dorés dans votre mixeur. Effeuillez et laver votre basilic frais puis pelez et pressez votre gousse d’ail. Ajoutez vos feuilles de basilic et votre ail pressé dans votre mixeur et votre assaisonnement . Mixez jusqu’à obtenir une préparation assez homogène.

    À présent vous pouvez verser votre préparation dans votre bocal en verre. Refermez-le et placez dans votre stérilisateur et laisser pendant 20 min, puis laissez refroidir dans votre stérilisateur. Et vous pourrez conserver votre bocal 6 mois à 1 an.

    Finally, a last tip to apply, discard your vegetable peelings, lawn mowing, fireplace ashes, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea bags, wilted flowers and dead leaves. And you will be the king of compost!

    At the end of the summer, we were talking about our little kerosene lamps that we cherish so much, and today we are announcing the return of the storm lamp to our partner stores and on our website.

    Patience and length of time are better than …

    Our lamps are back with new colors, which you will love! Be aware that this early winter, the metal lamp, and all other colors are (almost) available. They are already strongly victims of their return since many Internet users are tearing them away already. Only the trendy green has yet to wait a little to discover the world of your homes.

    But you must certainly wonder why, Guillouard stopped his production of oil lamps. This reason is explained by the decision of the city of Nantes to close the production plant, which has been in operation since 1911! But what would Guillouard be without his iconic model of an oil lamp? The return of the storm lamp could not be delayed any longer.

    The long trip!

    Then, It was necessary to find another structure with real skills to revive our firefly production. This structure is located in Slovakia, and is lucky to have seen more than 200 machines enter its factory! Indeed, we wanted to keep a demanding quality and that is why we made this choice to send all our production machines in Slovakia. Then there were long months of training to keep intact the French know-how that has represented us for so long.
